DOJO AND SPARRING RULES
1.
Dojo and Sparing Rules are in effect at all times.
2.
Karate is a contact sport. Therefore, contact is part of Martial Arts. The Dojo is not responsible for injuries to students, instructors, or visitors.
3.
Respect to Black Belts, student instructors, and visiting instructors is required at all times. Arguments regarding Karate or training are not allowed. Sensei is the final word on discussions.
4.
Coopersburg Karate Academy is a private Martial Arts club. It is upon Sensei's discretion who is permitted to learn the art of Karate at C.K.A.
5.
Parents, relatives and siblings are permitted to watch class, providing the are respectful and quiet to Sensei and the students.
6.
The Dojo is not a place to "hang out". The Dojo is for Martial Arts training and practice only.
7.
Students will conduct themselves in a controlled manner at all times. Outbursts of anger, profanity, excessive force, or horseplay are strictly forbidden.
8.
The Dojo is for the development of the student's mind, body, and spirit in a healthy and positive atmosphere.
9.
There is no free sparring at any time, unless directly supervised by Sensei.
10.
There is no eating, drinking or smoking permitted in the Dojo.
11.
Students are forbidden to train under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Prescribed medications are allowed. However, Sensei must be notified as to the purpose and effect it has on the student.
12.
Students must wear clean gis at all times.
13.
Finger and toe nails must be clipped and trimmed at all times.
14.
Talking during class is strictly limited. To open one's mind, one must close their mouth.
15.
Teaching a non-student Karate is strictly forbidden.
16.
If you are late to class, you will fall in at the end of the line - no exceptions.
17.
If you are going to be absent, please call Sensei at 484.410.9616.


RULES FOR FREE SPARRING

1.
Foot, hand, and head gear must be worn.
2.
Groin and mouth protection is required. (Females are encourage to wear groin protection.)
3.
Intentional contact to the head is forbidden.
4.
Light contact to the body is allowed between the top of the sternum down to the belt area, just above the hips.
5.
Light contact is a blow that will not cause serious injury. Serious injury is a broken bone, torn ligament, sprain, or internal bleeding. Bruises and brush burns are common injuries.
6.
Due to the emotional nature of sparring, any student not showing the proper attitude can be suspended from the activity for a period determined by Sensei.
